While we would love to show you around, we are unable to take time away from the dogs to give tours during business hours. Many of our guests, while friendly, find frequent interruptions annoying, or even scary. If you would like to arrange for a tour without your dog, please email us at: ask@UsAndTheDogs.com Find out how to book your dog for an appointment on our First Visit page.
We require your dog to be up-to-date on their Parvo & Distemper vaccines by veterinarians, not breeders or pet shops. Bordetella vaccines are recommended but not required. We will accept titer tests done within a 2 year period, in lieu of Parvo & Distemper because we strongly do not believe in over-vaccinating our own dogs. Unless your dog develops a severe medical condition or has significant immune dysfunction, the titer results are valid. Send us an email at: ask@UsAndTheDogs.com if you would like to find out where to obtain titer tests locally. Please note that we reverse the right to refuse your dog if his proof of vaccination or titer is incomplete.

As of April 2019, we only accept two kinds of preventive – Nexgard, Panoramis, Revolution, in that order. In our experience, ticks/fleas have developed tolerance to all other preventives, especially Frontline.

Intact males who are not unruly with other intact or neutered males are welcome. If your intact male is known to have problems with other males due to a testosterone issue, we reserve the right to refuse your dog entry. Intact females are welcome at Daycare if they are not in season.
For safety reasons during social enrichment, we separate based on size. We try to match dogs with similar play styles, stamina, sensory interests and proximity sensitivity. This is why the initial assessment is important, so we can best meet your dog’s needs.
As a force-free facility, we only utilize redirection or time outs for dogs that are being unruly or displaying inappropriate behaviors. This ceases the practice of the behavior we don’t want and gives the dog a much needed physical and mental break, as over-arousal is likely the usual culprit. We have tether stations, crates or day suites available, depending on the situation. Seeing a dog on a time out does not necessarily mean that dog got in trouble, but that he or she more likely needed a break. Sometimes we will allow the dog to go back into the social enrichment or redirect to other forms of enrichment.

We are not able to supervise Daycare attendees beyond check out time as we need to prepare for our evening classes. Except under extenuating circumstances, if your dog isn’t picked up by check out time, we will assume he is spending the night and tuck him away for Boarding, and bill you accordingly.

If there is a medical emergency, we will provide first aid if possible and immediately transport your dog to our nearest regular vet. Then we will call you, the owner, immediately. If you are not reachable, we will contact the next person listed as an emergency contact. All of our staff are certified in pet first aid and will help until full medical treatment becomes available.

If the medical emergency was due to undeclared pre-existing medical conditions, UATD will not be responsible for any costs involved.

About Boarding

To ensure that we have your dog’s needs in mind, all dogs must be assessed before registration. Our assessment process also includes one Daycare attendance. On the rare occasion an assessment may be waived, but can only be approved by our Head Trainer. You can find out how to book your dog for an appointment on our First Visit page.

Intact females are welcome if they are not in season. We do not accept intact females who are close to their season so if your female comes on heat during Boarding, there are surcharges for extra management.

Dogs who fall under the category of Heavy Management are:

  • Bitches in season (in season after they are boarded, as we do not accept bitches already in season)
  • Fearful (flight or fight)
  • Bullying or Play deficit
  • Separation anxiety
  • Sound sensitive
  • Body handling issues with bite history
  • Not potty trained (marking included)
  • Mobility issues
  • Incontinent

These can be either new issues displayed post intake or incomplete application history.

Food is provided, but if your dog is prone to stomach upset or allergies, please bring along adequate food supply, plus an extra meal or two. Our house chow is Back2Nature grain free food.

Any medication your your dog may require during their stay must be in the original bottle with clear instructions.

If you would like to bring a bed, treats or toys, you may. Only bring items you are comfortable with your dog having alone in a room (we do not share toys with other dogs so it will not get lost). Some dogs would prefer a scent from home. We highly recommend labelling any items you bring.
